T- VTR251 turbocharger rotor assembly (also called rotor complete) belongs to the T- ABB / T- VTR 1 series turbocharger. The T- ABB / T- VTR series marine turbocharger is created for two-stroke, low-speed and four-stroke, medium-speed heavy-duty diesel engines. The engine power output is from 700 kW to 18,500 kW per turbocharger. T- VTR series turbocharger has been widely applied to marine propulsion engines (esp. at part load), stationary power plants and units burning heavy oil and in continuous operation. 

  1. The T-VTR series turbocharger is developed to match with two-stroke low-speed and four-stroke medium-speed heavy duty diesel engine and gas engine.
  2. The engine power output range from 700 kW to 18,500 kW per each T-VTR turbocharger.
  3. The T-VTR series turbocharges is consisted of single-stage axial turbines and radial compressors.
  4. Easy maintained external bearings.
  5. Uncooled gas casings are available which can be an alternative to water-cooled gas casing.
  6. The rotor runs in spring-mounted rolling-contact bearings, and each bearing has its own lubrication system and oil cooling system.
  7. The rotor shaft can be removed in four easy steps without disconnect any air, gas or water pipes.
  8. The T-VTR series is modular type of design, which ensures the turbine blades, nozzle rings, compressor wheels and diffusers with various casing configurations to be optimum matched with all engine types.

The composing of turbocharger rotor assembly / rotor complete:

The turbocharger rotor assembly / rotor complete consists of compressor impeller, blade shaf/turbine shaft/rotor shaft and partition wall complete.
The compressor impeller is of aluminium alloy or the more expensive titanium. Manufactured from a single casting it is located on the rotor shaft by splines. The turbocharger rotor shaft is equipped with components such as a compressor and a turbine impeller, and has a complicated structure and a large weight. If the ship is parked for a long time, the turbocharger rotor will be bent and deformed due to the long-term non-operating self-weight, which will break the matching gap between the rotor and the casing, the gas seal and the casing, and the rotor will be lost. In severe cases, the rotor is difficult to rotate and the friction is severe.
